You may discharge your lawyer simply by informing him/her of your wishes. Giving notice is a matter of courtesy and may be necessary so that if a lawsuit has been filed‚ the lawyer may ask for the court for permission to withdraw. Even if you discharge your lawyer‚ you are still obligated to pay for any services which have been performed already on your behalf‚ and costs which have been incurred.

Upon being retained as your legal counsel, your lawyer should expect that you will: Be completely honest about all facts concerning your case‚ whether or not they are favorable to you. Be on time for appointments and not take up an excessive amount of time with visits or phone calls relating to minor details or petty matters. Take his/her advice. Understand that no lawyer can guarantee results in a contested matter. Be patient and understand that legal matters are rarely “open and shut” cases; they require time and research. Pay a reasonable fee for the work performed.

Your lawyer is best versed at the outcomes of your case, the knowledge that they hold will determine the final result. Appearing on your own will affect the merits of your case since you may not be well versed in law but the opposing counsel will certainly be, this could get you a loss even before the case begins.

As a foreign resident you do not need to be present in Pakistan to contest your case, your lawyer will draft a Power of Attorney and present on your behalf, this Power of Attorney will be attested from the embassy. In any case that you need to be present it will be done virtually, remote and hassle free.

This process although elaborate would be entirely dealt remotely where you need not be present in the country. This is done through virtual meetings and court hearing.
